In partnership with Airbnb, GlobalGiving has awarded Peppergreen Farm with an $115,000 grant to support their mission as a social enterprise of WISE Employment.

Airbnb Goldfields and Mineral Springs Region Host Community nominated Peppergreen Farm for the grant. They submitted the nomination after a visit and tour of the farm including lunch prepared by the Peppergreen Farm catering team.

WISE Employment’s Deputy CEO, Ary Laufer, said that the grant was a testament to the hard work of the Peppergreen Farm team, who are committed to providing an incredible service to all visitors and the surrounding community.

“The awarding of this grant means that our incredible staff will be able to continue with their role in the community, knowing they have been formally recognised as a fundamental part of the Bendigo area,” said Ary.

Jennie Walker, Manager of Peppergreen Farm Social Enterprises, said the grant would be used to upgrade equipment and support the growth of the business.

“Peppergreen Farm is a social enterprise providing employment and training opportunities for around sixty people who live with disability,” said Jennie.

“This grant means we’ll be able to continue supporting people with disability with sustainable employment and training in areas like hospitality, horticulture and the service industry.”

Peppergreen Farm is a two hectare produce farm and café, located on Thunder Street in North Bendigo. All produce grown on site is used in the preparation of meals in the café and catering, or is sold to the local community through the shopfront alongside locally-made gifts and one-of-a-kind items.

GlobalGiving said the grant exists as a way of giving back to those who are aligned with their charitable mission; to transform aid and philanthropy to accelerate community-led change.
